About Bruce Heen |
Bruce Heen has been working for more than thirty years in the insurance accounting field, specifically with Gaap financial reporting, Statutory accounting, corporate tax, reinsurance and budgeting. He is a Certified Public Accounting, obtaining his CPA certificate from the state of Wisconsin in 1982. Bruce Heen has had many different positions in the accounting field since 1980 and has across the board experience with coinsurance and assumption reinsurance. Gaap and Statutory financial reporting has been a huge part of Bruce Heen’s career and has worked most extensively in Life insurance but Bruce also has Property and Casualty experience.
Earlier Career
Bruce Heen went to the University of North Dakota where he received a B.S. in Education with a major in Social Studies and Political Science in 1972. From 1972-1977 he taught junior high school in Devils Lake, North Dakota. While teaching, Bruce was the American Legion baseball coach in 1973 and 1974 and the assistant varsity hockey coach from 1972-1977. Bruce Heen actually resurrected the American Legion baseball program after it had been abandoned a year earlier by Devils Lake. Sports have been an integral part of Bruce’s life since he was a young kid and help guide his career outside of the office.
Professional Accountant
After teaching for five years, with no accounting or business background, Bruce Heen decided to go back to college in 1977 to obtain his accounting degree from the University of North Dakota. He graduated with his degree in 1980 and began his first job as a professional accountant at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI. He would later pass his CPA exam in 1981 and receive his CPA certificate from the state of Wisconsin in 1982, starting his subsequent years of experience in the insurance accounting field. Bruce Heen has worked for six different insurance companies over the last 33 years. His experience covers reinsurance accounting, corporate budgeting, cost accounting, corporate tax, Gaap & Statutory financial reporting, variable annuities separate accounts, third party administration accounting services and general accounting.
